trooper

So we have been out and about a lot these last two weeks. Colin has put up with an airplane trip to San Diego and back, and 2 round trips to Portland. Not to mention driving ALL over Portland for 3 days. The plane rides went pretty well. He fell asleep on the first leg of the flight in both directions so he was all wound up and ready to run around and play for the last half of each flight. He had fun, but it was kind of hard on us since we had to keep him on our laps when all he wanted to do was get down and crawl. The road trips to Portland went pretty smoothly with Colin sleep pretty much all the long driving legs. He put up with being stuck in the car pretty well ... he got bored after a while, but since we were stopping to check out apartments he got enough change in scenery to keep him happy. The only hard part was that he stopped wanting to get in the car. He would fight us every time we tried to put him back in his seat, and then he was fine once we started moving. We are waiting to hear back about an apartment, and the place we applied at has a pool, a playground and lots of grass, so Colin approves.

Wanna fight about it?

Our friends Mark and Jamie sent Colin a Guns n' Roses shirt for his birthday. His hair was looking pretty punk rock after his bath today so we put the shirt on him for some pics. We didn't get any pics of Colin in his 4th of July outfit, but we will dress him in it again and get some pics. It was appropriately patriotic and got him some smiles at the supermarket. We took Colin swimming today, and had some steak and some watermelon. Now we are trying to tire Colin out so that he will go to sleep after the crazy battlezone of fireworks quiets down outside. The people who live just on the side of the apartment complex are still going even though it is almost midnight and they were supposed to stop an hour ago. The city put on a big show last night and we joined in the crowds and checked it out. Colin was a little scared at first, but once the show got going he had a lot of fun screaming and pointing at the fireworks. Tonight we can just hear the loud bangs from all around us- and there is no way Colin is going to sleep until it is over. Good night all.
